Speaking Machines and Living Languages — Keynote at the University of Warsaw
On 17 October 2025, I gave the keynote “Speaking Machines and Living Languages” at Breakthroughs: Cutting-edge research in the humanities and social sciences at the University of Warsaw.
The conference brought together researchers working across the humanities and social sciences as part of the university’s Excellence Initiative – Research University programme. My keynote explored the relationship between speech technology, linguistic diversity, and the living languages that these technologies increasingly mediate.
It was a pleasure to contribute to a programme showcasing the breadth of interdisciplinary research taking place at the University of Warsaw.
